delteq questions

dont know much about it but from my understanding you have to still have your opti in place. does it have to be in tip top working order or just to fire the car? also how does the delteq fix the problem of the opti's like getting wet and stuff when the water pump goes out. if you still have to replace the opti when the pump goes out whats the use?

Re: delteq questions

it only needs the opti for its optical readout. the part that gets ruined by water pumps is the distributer part, so you can use the ruined one as long as its not physically broken.

i put on the delteq because my water pump killed my opti. my car runs just fine with the old opti still there and the old water pump too.

Re: delteq questions

True the Opti is still in place, but all you are using is the optical pick-up. This is the most reliable part of the Opti and rarely experiences problems. My Opti was running like crap, it is original and has 105k on it. I still have it installed in the car with the Delteq and will not replace it unless I rebulid the motor.

The Delteq fixes the problem because moisture and crap that gets in your Opti causes it to missfire. Because the distributor portion of the Opti is no longer in use this is not a problem.

thanks guys for the info? what about the timing retard part. can i run a msd box or does it have some dials or something on it so i can retard the timing for the spray? last but not least where can i get the setup from?

Re: delteq questions

youll need to get some kind of distibuter-less type msd box. or you could get any kind of standalone timing piece, but its not built in.

Re: delteq questions

check the sponser GP section, there is a GP on the delteq right now fro EliteSparkplugs, great service and fast shipping too. There is a lot of info in that thread as to what MSD or timing box you need to use.
