Ya can get the adaptor for an earlier SBC and it will fit. Be sure to get the bolts.
Don't remember but I think the existing adaptor will bolt in,just get two 1/4" allen head bolts the right length.

You shouldn't need anything. You just remove your oil filter adapter and replace the two studs that hold the adapter in the block, then screw on your new filter. I just did this on my 95 about 1 month ago.

I agree with the post above, no other parts necessary.

Re: Delete Oil Cooler

Need to run a top notch filter then though because the bypass is usually located in the adapter. The bypass is a good thing, it allows unfiltered oil to get by IF there is signifigant pressure drop across the filter. This is better than having the pressure blow through the filter media and basically fulltime bypass till you replace it.

The screw on adapter whether it's early SBC or the one mounted on the cooler has the bypass in them.

Re: Delete Oil Cooler

My comment was aimed at saying to use some sort of adapter as I have seen engines setup with the filter right to the block. A friend recently bought an LT1 9C1 that the oilcooler had been removed from and the filter mounted directly to the block. There are adapters out there made without a bypass and people who feel those are the best, just as noted though if you want to go that route do your homework on the filter, hint Fram is as bad as it gets, Supertech is OK but getting more cheaply made and are a bit restrictive, so you wont want to go with either of those. Do some real research NOT relying of manufacturers websites or other advertizing.
