Decided on 4.10's....what do I need to order??

I have a mechanic who runs pro stock cars who said he would install the gears for $150. What do I need to order from ThunderRacing.com?? Cant I just use a spacer instead of changing the carrier? Can I just buy the $200 4.10 gears from Thunder and give it to the mechanic? Also which gear brand would you prefer me to get? Strange, Motive etc?? Thanks.

I personally would only get Motive gears,BUT they don't make the 4.10's for the 2 series carrier..So if you don't want to change carriers you have no choice but run a Strange..

Be ready for noise..Motive's are the only ones that never seem to make noise if set up right"and i do them for a living" in the 7.5's..

Good luck

Hmm. I might just buy the Motive gears and new carrier. My friend has a 95 Z28 with Strange 4.10's and they whine badd.

The carrier is also called the Posi..It is the differential in the rearend..And that depends on what gear is in your car now..2.73,and 3.08's all use a 2nd series carrier and 3.23 and above use the 3 series..

Good luck getting them quiet now. After they have been run with a bad setup the pattern is already set..Not saying it can't be fixed, but highly doubtful..It would be a hit and miss kinda thing really..

Good luck

So I should just leave them be? I don't know much about them. That's why I paid for the install. I don't want to pay again if it won't help any.

How good was the guy you paid to do the install? any people you talked to about his work?

And how many miles have you had them in with the noise?Did you contact the installer and let him know?

Correct IF you have 3.23's and above you have the 3 series carrier..NOW if you have a ZEXEL,or Thorsen Diff you might have to runt he SLP "paddles"aka crosspin as they call them..Otherwise it is impossible to get the center pin in..If you go to SLP site and look for the Zexel take out's the paddle kit is there..
IF you have the Auburn style carrier you don't need them, the stock crosspin will work..
