You can call MSD and then send it to them for repair. There should be some warranty if you bought it new.

I've heard that even if you didn't buy it new you can send it to them and they will charge you $30-$40 to fix it.

Sadly, I have plenty of experience in this area.
If you have had it under a year, it is still under warranty. If not, you may or may not have to pay to get it repaired. My first Digi 6 (yes, there are more, ugh) died after 2 years of flawless use (bought a second wiring harness to be sure that wasn't the problem). I called MSD, they say send it back, and would contact me with how much it would cost to repair it once they got it. A few weeks later, a brand new one showed up at my door, free of charge. Sweet. A couple months later, Digi 6 number 2 dies. I ended up not touching it for a while, having some other problems with the car so I just left it unhooked. Hook her back up, and she starts rolling smoke out of her. Call MSD, tell them they sent me a new one less than a year ago, and this is the one that burned out. Again, send it back, 2 weeks later they send me a new one. I'm on #3 right now. So far, so good, though I probably only have 800 miles on it. We'll see if it lasts. I have a couple other friends who had the same problems w/ their Digital 6 boxes......I think MSD knows they have problems and just sends out new ones. SO you might be able to score yourself a new one free. That said, if it goes again, I'm done w/ it. I'll send it back, get another new one free of charge. Sell that brand new one at nearly what I paid for it, and use the money for something else. A few other companies make MSD boxes, but honestly I want to go to the LS1 coil pack setup (though the box for that retails for $400, plus you gotta buy the coil packs and new wires). |
