Re: cut out/borla
I strongly recommend to go with the DMH Performance E-cutout (do a search on "DMH"; you won't be sorry). ;) Their motor actually has a longer life to it and is backed by a guaranteed 4 year warranty. Try beating that. Not to mention, DMH's customer service is also much better than McCord's or QTEC's.
The main problem that a lot of people have with the two other vendors I just mentioned above is that their electric cutouts leak and sometimes rattle during closing (not to mention many have burned out their motors quickly with them). I just put the DMH on my '95 and it is an awesome, high quality peice. My friend also had great luck with it on his '95 as well. Check out www.dmhperformance.com for more info and pricing. Good luck, Mike |
Re: cut out/borla
I've heard good things about all the e-cutout companies. However, due to lack of funds I just went with a regular old manual cutout and I'm glad i didnt dish out the dough for the e-cutout....the only times I'll ever cap mine is for emissions or a long road trip....both of which don't come along often.

Re: cut out/borla
will u see any performance gain with cut outs? i know it will obviously sounds good but i heard bc the LT1 was built to run with a sufficient amount of backpressure it will make it slower and run like crap. anyone have dyno results with these things? thanks, jason.

Re: cut out/borla
I have a QTP ecutout and love it. No problems yet. I probably open/close it 2+ times a day... mainly because I drive around in the day with it open but at night gotta close it since I come home at 1 in the morning, I don't want the neighbors bitching :) And it is handy if you happen to see a policeman around, or want to scare a ricer :p An electric cutout is the way to go if you want to build a sleeper, IMHO

Re: cut out/borla
I'm running a DMH with my Borla. Its a little more expensive than the rest but the 4 year warrenty is hard to beat. I've also heard that DMH is the best when it comes to dealing with getting one fixed and servicing them. I've never had a problem with mine so i can't confirm that. :)

DMH the only way to go.

Re: cut out/borla
is there a big differance in sound if i put it after the y pipe rather than the end of the borla?
