Custom Headlights?
Shoudln't this be better off in the APPERANCE SECTION?
And lots of people have done custom headlights. TRY A SEARCH.
They've put in anything from Silvia headlight housing to Hella 90mm fog/driving lights to Crx headlights.

This type topic could belong in either forum. We don't know if he intends on making this a show car and just wants something different for appearance or if he wants better lighting. If just for better lighting then it is perfectly acceptable to be posted in this forum.
If you're going to try and help me out, please do so "nicely". Thanks
Oh yeah... check this out for something a little different

Sorry.
But he could have searched before asking.
Btw while I'm on this search topic. Mods, what about puting a search feature on the main pages? Just off to the side by the ads with a search field and go button like most big websites have? Doesn't seem like it'd be that hard to code and I'm sure more people would start using the search feature if it was right there.

Brent's PIAA's are another option but they are really driving lights. I am sure the lighting is great, but not legal IMO. I think Brent quotes about $500 for this option on his website if I am not mistaken.
If you want to stay with the stock rectangular shape, the best option is the Hella FF75, but these are also driving lights and therefore not legal to use as headlights. 2 pairs of these will cost you about $160.
The cheapest option is to RTV better bulbs in the existing housings, but the housings have very crappy reflectors, which is the problem in the first place. So doing this will only help very slightly, if at all... Cost is of course also very low: ~$30
You can find plenty of threads on this topic by searching on the board... But remember: You'll get what you pay for.

Cost for 2 lows an 2 highs is about $270. Search for the thread I started named "Great upgrade for headlights" if you want to know more about the Hella 90mm's.

Just a thought, but as far as using the stock housing, and it not being much brighter, would it be possible to remove the front glass, or somehow place mirrors on the inside back to improve the reflectors? This is just off the top of my head, and I don't feel like going out to look at my headlights right now as it's 11 pm, but anybody have any ideas on this?

). Hope to have it finished soon. 3 other members on this board have since installed Hella 90mm's on their cars, but I think only one used the stock brackets like I did. The others completely removed the stock mounting brackets and fabbed a completely new bracket for the lights to replace the stock parts. To mount the FF75's should be pretty straight forward, but there are a bunch of people that did those, search for 94BlackBowTie, he was going to start a lighting upgrade site and he did the upgrade to FF75's himself.
Brent has installation instruction sfor the PIAA's on his site.
There is also another site that describes the upgrade of the bulbs in stock housings... a search would find those...

here's a fairly inexpensive (depending on exactly which type of bulb you get) upgrade.
linky
i did it with the silver stars like the page says and they are a very nice improvement for only $100 or so.
i'm also planning on doing a set of "blue lights" for shows and things like that....

here's a thread describing how to make an upgraded harness so that you could use similar technique of swapping bulbs in the stock housings, but with a much higher wattage bulb. doing this you could run the plasma 100w bulbs i beleive.
something else to look into.
