Question !Cruise Control?

Has anyone removed it. It sits on the drivers valve cover, I dont use it and it pisses me off. Can you just get a throttle cable from a non-CC car and remove the whole thing and disconnect the swith on the steering column without a light or other malfunction?

Thanks
Wade

I believe you are referring to ASR (traction control), not cruise control.

Nope. It has to be a cable goes from inside the car to the box, then the cable that comes off of that goes to the throttle body.
Its not really a box, its the stepper motor for the cruise control with the black cover on it. Right on top of the drivers side valve cover. Doesnt traction control just bog the motor down anyway.

But has noone removed their cruise conrtol?

The thing on top of the valve cover is the ASR. The cruise control is down on the inside of the LH frame. People that have cruise and no ASR have nothing on top of the valve cover.

If you wanted to get rid of all that stuff, IMO all you would have to do is remove it and get a throttle cable for a non ASR car. Not sure if the computer would complain about any of it.

Thanks for the help. Ill probably try it. Im doing a A4 to M6 swap. Im also doing Hooker Lts and dont need ASR and I dont want to mess with the crap on the valve covers since I have to do OVC wires. Tahnks again I think you had the P/N for the throttle cable on your site right?

Thanks again

How does the cruise control work if its not directly connected to the throttle cable. (How does it work)
Thanks for putting up with my crap

Cruise control uses it's own throttle cable. I think the ASR box you are referring to is the throttle relaxer which just reduces tension on the main throttle cable. Since I don't have ASR can't say that I've looked all that closely at it though

Thanks Buttercup I think I see how it works.
The ASR actually "boggs" the engine down by reducing the throttle. So does this mean a cable goes from the pedal to the CC to the ASR then to the TB?

No, one cable goes from the peddle, to the ASR, to the TB. The other cable goes directly from the cruise control box in the front fender to the TB.

You should have two cables attached to the throttlebody.

1994-1996 accelerator cable-no traction control 12550676 (on my site). The 1997 is 12554852 . Did not know what year your car was.

Its a '95
Sitll confused. The cable labled WDS comes out of the pass compartment then goes to "motor" on the valve cover then two cables come off that . One labeled DJA to the Cruise control and the other labled WDR to the Throttle Body.
And buttercup I dont have two cables attached to the throttle body just one.

The configuration without ASR has the cable coming through the firewall from the pedal to the TB and a cable coming from the cruise to the TB. You could get rid of the ASR and still use the cruise, I think, by getting both those cables.
