In----credible

The damn low oil sensor I was replacing crumbled and broke in half... Landing back in the oil pan. For the love of...

Lame. So this 2 minute job just turned into a drop the Y-pipe, spend a couple hours underneath the car that I have no room under so I can rip off the oil pan ordeal.

While the oil pan is coming off... Is there a nifty new oil pan I should be putting back on?

I would have poured in like 3 quarts of oil and tried to flush the little peice out, but not that you have it out it doesn't matter. I see nothin wrong with the stock oil pan unless it's rusty, crushed or cracked.

Well, the entire 'plunger' is in there too. I don't think it would have just drained out...

But in any event, there are a couple plastic shards in there I think, because the part cracked and crumbled before my eyes as it fell in. I don't think I could trust that they would all come out. I'd rather have the piece of mind.

The center of my pan is dented in, it's not flat.

You have a part number for that? my sensor always leaks oil out of it and i wouldn't mind a new one.

Thats why I just put a plug in and got rid of that leak prone piece of crap. If you need the computer to tell you to check your oil you probably shouldn't be driving an F-body.

I have a part #, but it's not a GM # so I don't know if it will help you. I got it from Star Auto Parts (Auto Value). The part # for this aftermarket sensor is FLS14.

The whole reason I was changing it was just because the old one was leaking like a bastard. It should have been an easy job, damnit.

I don't need it... But I don't want to look at a light on my dash either. What else did you have to do to keep the light from coming on?

Just loop the connector or cut it off and join the wires together

Yeah, I can't ever do I simplist of jobs on my car without something breaking. Tried to clean my TB, which is about a 30 seconds job. Took 3 hours because I had to remove that stupid air silencer on the elbow which was attached to the air dam or something then i couldn't get clamp around it for some reason so I ended up using zip tips and red silicone.

Oh i didn't realize you could get them aftermarket. The sensor in my old motor broke so i just took a resistor i had laying around and put it in the plug. When i got another motor to swap into my car i took the good sensor out of it and put it in my motor. The Bastard just leaks out the the plug in area.

GM part number is 24507190. That includes the seal (10151633).

For reference, list price is $46.39.

Re: In----credible

I think many people just leave them in there. Things like this is what the screne on the pick up tube is for

So you think it would be perfectly safe to leave the plastic bits floating around in my oil? I'm going to be making a nearly 3000 mile road trip to Bowling Green and back this summer.

As a whole piece, I wouldnt be worried. If it was broken into many little pieces, it would probably be best to get them out so they dont get through the screne, and into the oil pump. But then again, most little pieces would wash out when draining the oil.
