Underdrive Pulley Question
My friends got a BBK Billet underdrive pulley, new in box. He wants to sell me for 50.00. Just wondering if these are even worth putting on..especially if I have a stereo system with 2 amps in my car. Just looking for some opinions..

Re: Underdrive Pulley Question
I ran underdrive pullies on my 94 Camaro and I had 3 amps, 1 crossover, 1 equalizer, CD player and a CD changer. I never had any problem with mine. So I don't see why any one has negative things to say about them. The only time I every noticed them was when I left a race or ball game and was stuck in traffic while playing my stereo full blast. All I had to do was rev the engine here and there ( which of course sounded good also) and every thing was fine. I'd say for 50 bucks I'd buy em but one question I have for you is does he have the belt to go with them. If not you'll have to order one (around $25).

Re: Underdrive Pulley Question
I wouldnt buy BBK, hypertech, or any other underdrive brand except ASP. I have a ASP crank underdrive pulley 23% on my car with a 1200 watt system its never in the red. Dont buy a pulley that piggy backs and adds weight. Get a crank replacement from ASP.

Re: Underdrive Pulley Question
Ditto ^^^^I have an the same as above and its been flawless since 1995...I agree that its better to get the pulley/balancer combo and not the piggyback...It was worth a tenth, too...

Re: Underdrive Pulley Question
I had under drive pulleys but go tired of it not charging enough at idle with the fans and lights on. It also would crank slow after a long idle and at the track after a pass I had it not start at all. I put the stock pulleys on and fixed the low charging. My alt. is less then a year old.

Re: Underdrive Pulley Question
Yea, depends on their definition of proper. Mine could use the 800rpm idle, which I might flash on there tonight, but it stays out of the red with a 550/600 idle. Thankfully my Pioneer Deck gives you a realtime read out of the battery. Its usually high 13's low 14's driving and lower 12's at a stop with the 1200watt amp in use. Perhaps a stock engine couldnt handle that?

Re: Underdrive Pulley Question
Back when the LT1 was still new two of my buddies had a 93 and a 94 auto z28's...they both had pulleys and both experienced charging problems, they both stalled out on the hwy several times and ended up uninstalling them...I bought the BBk's and from there experience decided against putting them on later...The few hp just wasnt worth it for the possible problems...many have them w/ no problems but alot do...mostly a4 cars from what I here...Anyway I sold mine new in the box for 50 bucks to an old cz28 member...so Id say its a fair price.
