Crank hub differences

What is the difference in the 93-95 and the 96-97 crank hubs? I have my old one that I had to torch off and the new one that I just bought pn 12553250 which is for 93-95's. It looks to be a little shorter than the one that I removed?

You need to get one that's exactly like the original one that you removed. Remember that the LT1 was used on 3 different vehicle platforms, and on each platform the accessories were mounted differently. Using the wrong hub will throw off the belt alignment

By the way...the shorter one that you purchased is for a Corvette I believe.

Problem being that the original one that came on my motor would never bottom out totally and ate all my belts, as it was about 1/8 of an inch too far out. This one that I purchased was specifically for a 93-95 camaro/firebird (motor is a 95 trans am lt1). I think the one that came with my motor might have been the wrong one (it was just in a box full of parts that suppossedly came with the engine) from the beginning. It looks like this one that I just bought is about an 1/8 of an inch shorter, so maybe my belts will line up now :D

The 93-95s are longer than the 96-97s. 96-97s has the crank position sensor reluctor that takes up space between the crank gear and the hub, so their hub is shorter.

Measure from the front of the crank gear to the end of the crank snout and compare that to the inside length of the hub.

Well this one is for a 95 f body so it should be the correct for my 94 f body lt1 with 95 vented opti, correct?

I would say so.
