cracked heads
The LT1 heads are pretty crack resistant, most aluminum head cracks in the chamber are more due to detonation rather than over heating. A little line between the valve seats is the most common spot.
The Lt1 heads are pretty tough. Get them checked out by your local machine shop any time you pull them from the engine, especially if you had an overheating condition.

they usually get soft like 96CAP mentioned. Have them Rockwall tested to be sure.
Look at the valve stem hts and see if they are all uneven also. If so, get another set of heads since these are JACKED.
When they do crack, it is usually from the very center head bolt to the water jacket that is about 1/2 away from it.
