could it do any damage?

the other day i was driving my car and i heard a loud tick from under the valve cover, pulled it off and found the 7th cylinder intake rocker ot have come loose and fall off the lifter. ever since i readjusted ll the rockers the car seems to want to run on after i shut it off. could what happened have damaged soemthing??

i forgot to mention that it accelerates really ruff but at a constant rpm it seems to run pretty smooth

The rocker doesn't sit on the lifter. Do you mean the rocker had rotated and was no longer on the valve stem and pushrod tip?

thank you for the response and yes the rocker completely came off of the valve and lifter the 7th intake one came loose. it runs really run at heavy acceleration now i have timing dtcs coming up and ruff turn off now. could these problems be caused by all this?

Its not likely a rocker coming loose caused ignition timing problems. But you have to check and make sure the pushrod (again... no lifter) didn't get bent.

What are the exact codes you are getting? I'm not sure what you mean by "timing dtcs".
