cooling question

You may have read about my car a few weeks ago. I have the 206500 mile odometer. I have a few symptoms, and was hoping for some feedback on possible problems. The car takes about 20-30 minutes in the morning to blow hot air. On a mildly warm day, the thermostat says the engine is sitting around 230-240 degrees. I had the car checked for a different problem earlier in the week, and it's not spitting codes at all. A couple possibilities that I've heard are needing the heater core flushed, bad thermostat, and the engine fans not coming on. Do any of those result in a computer code? Any help is appreciated. Thanks.
Dan

The fans may or may not throw a code depending on what is causing them not to come on. The heater and thermostat will cause no code. I would do the heater core flush and replace the thermostat. There are ways to test to see if the fans are ok. You could also have a temp sensor problem and even debris in front of the radiator.
What year is your car?

My camaro is a 1994. I took it over to someone today, and they suggested a pressure test on the coolant system. Would that tell me anything besides whether I have a leak or not?

If leaks are not your problem, then I would not waste my time with the pressure test, though you might consider replacing your radiator cap just for general maintenance purposes.

To see if your fan circuitry is ok, you can run a quick check with your diagnostic connector to see if that turns them on. Start with key OFF, jumper A to B, turn key ON (not start), observe fan status, turn key OFF, remove jumper.
