coolant light wont go away

Well the coolant light came on a little bit back.... everything underneith the car appears dry and the resivior is full and so is the radiator. What the hay is wrong, where is the coolant level sensor anyways. A guy I work with said its in the resivior and if you bang on it a bit it will unstick from the bottom or whatever and it went off for a day then reappeared..??????????????

Just unplug the sensor and your probs. solved. This is a common occurance with our cars so you can either unplug and try to clean it with a tooth brush and see if that helps. Or you can replace if you really think you need to. I always just unplug mine in my cars when it comes on.

Replaced the sensor and increased the coolant ratio in the system (was way watery). Sensor stays off now.
