coolant crossover pipe removal

on my 94 camaro the coolant pipe got a hole in it now i have a question. has anyone ever had trouble getting the bolts loose from the heads i tried with a wrench as hard as i could but now im resorting to doing it from underneath. anybody ever done them from under the car and if so what all did you have to remove to do so. thanks

What are you trying to accomplish as far as removing the steam tubes? Are you pulling the heads or what? If you are trying to pull the heads, you can pull the heads off at the same time - leaving the heads connected making them easier to separate off of the vehicle.

Or, you can cut the tube between the heads and splice them together with a piece of hose and hose clamps.

The pipe is rotted and is also leaking around the banjo fittings so I have to remove them, have any of you ever had the banjo bolts seized in the heads? Any tricks to getting them out?

I removed the engine to get mine out. I was also fixing an oil pan gasket leak, too.

The factory bolts have a shallow head and is hard to get a good bite on them. The replacements bolts have a taller head - less chance of slippage.
