Convert engine from MAF to SPEED DENSITY

Is there any way to specifically go from a MAF engine to speed density? I have a painless harness for a speed density LT1 but I found some cheap LT1 engines. So I need to know quick. Well here's the thing. My harness is a painless harness made specifically with no MAF connector. Also I have to use a specific computer with this harness or it won't work (I had to have a certain part number computer). So there is no way I can send this back. And I found a engine really cheap. I can get a COMPLETE LT1 shortblock for about $300 OR I can get one with heads complete and valve covers for $750 so I need to know if I can convert the ENGINE specifically to speed density. OPINIONS NEEDED!!

the 93 lt1 were speed density so I think if you get a 93 lt1 computer you could do it.

There is a switch in the computer to do so.

Here's what I mean. I need to know what to add or take off of a engine with a MAF sensor to make it work with a speed density computer/harness? swap timing covers, anything? Or just take the MAF sensor off and put a piece of piping in it's place?

You can get a cold air kit for 93s that fits without a MAF. As far as the ecm/pcm, get a 93 ecm. No need to remove or add anything.

With a '93 PCM you should remove the rear O2 sensors as well.

Mike, I am not seeing the where rear 02s are a factor here. Afast, is this going in your 83?

Yes, If you guys actually read his post. He ALREADY has the speed density WIRING and PCM. He wants to know how to covert the ENGINE to spped density:confused:

Anyway, You computer and harmess should run any LT1. The engine itself doesn't care if it's being run by SD or MAF. Just plug in your harness to the sensors and don't put a maf sen. in the air intake. The only thing I can think of is maybe your harness does or doesn't have a crank sensor hook up. If it doen't you could still buy any year and just not hook up the crank sensor, your system will still run it. Hope this helps.

You better believe it :D

Thanks, Diablo Z. there for a minute I didn't think anyone was understanding what I was saying ;) Well guess I am going to buy that engine then

Tell me where in his orginal post he states he HAS the computer already! In his second post he asked what needed to be added or removed. I answered that! Anyhow, I retract my statement about the 93 cold air kit since this is obviously going in an 83! Sorry for the mix up Afast.

Just try reading the post.. These line are in there. The computer part is fuzy but when you read he can't send it back it makes you think he must have it.

Anyway good luck with the project. The Painless wiring will make it really easy to get running.

Thanks Diablo. Don't worry about the mix up N20. The painless harness looks super easy to install. I just need to figure out how far I can put the computer from the engine. I would like to have it under my dash but I don't know if the wires are long enough. I will update everyone as I go
