im trading the v6 in favor of an LT1 f-body with an M6
the car will prob. have about 50-60K mi
i want to be asking informed questions, and know what to look for are there any chronic things that tend to go wrong with theese cars?
(ive been hearing terible things about something called optispark and a leaking manifold gasket)
most importantly i dont want to trade a perfectally good car for a faster POS

Well, you seem to know about the two main ones. Don't discount the car even if it has the intake leak use it as leverage on the price. Mine had it when I bought it at ~65,000 miles, but I know every bit of its history and it was babied.
Another thing I've been seeing a lot of is people having trouble with their power window motors being sluggish or only working part of the time, (I assume the V6's would have the same problem.) Just another thing to be looking out for.
