colder stat, engine wear down quicker?

colder stat, engine wear down quicker?

i heard when you get a 160 deg stat tht your engine internals wear down quicker, is this true???

actually, it's the heat and running an engine at hotter temps that typically causes engine wear to occur quicker. The only thing that will happen with the lower thermostat is if you dont have your fans set to come on earlier, your coolant will get moved around a lot more, might need to flush and recharge it more often. Other than that, a cooler engine = happier engine :-)

what temp u recommend the fans come on i just installed a 160. haven't programmed fans yet.

I forget what they recommend for a 160 thermo. 175-180 I think?
