cold start issues...help

so on teh first crank up in the morning, the oil pressure is nearly maxing out the guage, accompanied by a loud ticking/clanking sound. it goes away after the first minute or less. but the oil pressure takes about 2 minutes to go down to normal cold start pressure.

also the car is misfiring sometimes too. got a new opti, coil, and semi-new plugs (autolite 103's for nitrous use), the wires are about 3 years old.

it sounds like a cough with a "poof" at the end of it when it misfires.

and it'll misfire at any rpm and throttle position.

any help here will be great, i'm getting worried about driving the thing and getting stranded.

Make doubly sure the plug wires are all in their correct places.
I'm wondering if your pressure/ticking issues could be a bad lifter(s) perhaps with a clogged oil port.

that's kinda what i was thinking too.

and once the oil warms up and thins out a bit, it's able to flow through the partially clogged hole.

but the oil pressure goes back to normal after a little bit, (not fully warmed up yet), so i might just change the oil and hopefully take out some debris that might be floating around. in there.

and the wires have to be in the right place because the misfire is intermittenr (sp)

but it will do it at any given time, no matter what engine temp or rpm
