cold air induction

is putting a cold air induction kit in worth the cost? What are the benefits? Who has the best and most affordable and easiest to install kits? I live in Ontario.

They are all easy to install. Pick the one you like the looks of the best. It does not make a huge difference in power but it sets up future hp mods.
LPE probably has the least expensive at $159.

I agree, definitely worth doing. I installed the SLP CAI because I liked the glossy painted finish it had over other kits out there. Plus, I don't understand why that kit has two smaller cone filters that feed into two induction pipes. Some kits have just one big cone filter feeding into one massive pipe. If asthetics don't matter to you, I've heard good things about the Moroso kit. Not to say the SLP kit is bad, but I think you can gain a couple extra horses from some other kits with one big cone filter. Also worth adding the 1LE elbow at the same time, too. I've seen that go for about $50, depending on where you go.

I got the CAI off a wrecked formula and it had no filter on it. So being as how i am on kind of a tight budget I didnt want to spend 40 dollars and heard some guys on here talking about using pantyhose as a filter so I put it on there and it runs a little better.

No offense, but wouldn't that cause more harm than good??? I'm sure there's contaminents that are small enough that can get past the pantyhose and over time must build up in your engine. I know you're saving $40 but that sounds like a drop in the bucket to some other issue that could come up in the future.

yeah I know, it is just a temporary fix until I get the filter. Plus I might do like 3 or 4 layers and that should filter out most everything I would have to worry about. Just got tired of the CAI sitting in my room and just looking at it so I figured I would do something with it.

A piece of nylon stocking stretched over the mouth of your intake instead of an actual air filter? You gotta be kidding!
Maybe you can gut your oil filter so it will take less power to run your oil pump too.
You can't seriously be so desperate for every last fraction of a hp that you think this is a good idea, can you?

As far as the "disadvantage" of 2 smaller filters go: Has anyone ever measured the area of them and compaired?? I think it would be pretty similar.

And for the panty hose thing, I'd just go to an auto parts store and order the filters and have them by the next day with out havign to worry about all that dust.

I prefer the SLP due to the fact that it can factor into engine dressup if you'd like to. Mine is Polished (pics in sig), and I've seen some others on here that have been painted and look really good.

I have the Moroso.

The Slp felt too heavy, so I went with the lighter Moroso.
