Coil Wire Again????
ok so I drive the camaro around town on the weekends all the time, but lastnight i jumped on the interstate for about 10 miles.........im crusing at 70 then all of the sudden
BOOOOOOOOOOOOOM off like a shot gun....... car dies. now this has happend to me before but I was at WOT taching out, and the coil wire went south on me. so I pull over, car starts up (which didn't happen when the wire took a **** last time so )......drive 5 more miles BOOM BOOM off........ pull over chill at a rest area for 45 mins. start it up.....drive to the next exit, take the back way home not exceeding 55mph. get close to home, start beating on it and i can't get it to happen again!!! Im getting some MSD 8.5's hoping to remedy this B/S....i've got the stock manifolds.... am i going to have to do some serious magic to get these routed or what???? |
Re: Coil Wire Again????
If your ignition switch were giving you fits, the voltage to the ignition fuse can intermittently drop out. This would cause intermittent spark. Have it drop out and come back while driving down the road and "boom". That little puddle of fuel in the cylinder ignites with a nice sound. Nice to us following behind you  but not to those in the car.
Keep in mind if you had the thought that "my engine always cranks, it can't be the ignition switch". Well there are several sets of contacts within the switch that don't have influence on each other. BTW I have a set of MSD's you can have cheap(never used). I just got the Granatelli's. There's a lot to be said for near 0 ohms. |
