Cheap optispark.

My opti went again on my 93z second time already. Last time I bought it from the dealer and payed close to 700 bucks. Now I found gmpartsdirect.com which has it for 321.00. Is there anything cheaper out there or is 321.00 the best price im gonna find?
Thanks

I am not sure of the price for a non veneted but I got a vented opti from Jason Cromer for 187. He is at www.samtaylor.com or 1-877-726-8295.

~$270 from Jason for the non vented that fits your 1993.

Is it new or rebuilt? Just wondering

Red95Formula Feb 11, 2003 08:10 PM

It will be new in a sealed gm box.

Its the exact same unit as if you were to go the dealer and buy one, Did your car throw up a DTC 16? Check for that first, its the code for low resolution pulse.

defiently new!

That the only way to buy an opti in my opinion!! Too big of a PITA to have to pull if a rebuild fails in a few weeks or so.

cheapest opti spark

I don't recommend this, and even hate admitting it, but I have an opti from Autozone. I can't recall who makes it, but the story is that I didn't want to pay $600+ for a new Opti. So I checked the Zone and they had one for I think 150 plus a $90 core charge. Yes, you have to take apart your old opti and install the new guts. To do that you'll need a #4 Torx (or reverse torx?) - basically a star socket. After searching for days at every tool shop in town, I finally thought to call the Snap-On truck. That tool was 8 bucks. I haven't had problems yet..... Had it for a year now having made trips from UT to TX to MO and back. It may not be the safest bet, but it is the cheapest Opti.
