cc306 in a daily driver?
How streetable is the cc 306? I have a M6 so i won't need a converter. I am 19 so i think i can take a little more roughness than u old guys;) but i don't want to rev it to 2k just to take off.

I don't have that cam in my own car but I have seen others with it in their daily drivers and they have no problems ;) Of course everyone has their own opinions of what is 'streetable' . Just make sure you get a good tune.

Why do you want a CC306? Do you plan on other mods, like ported heads or headers? What about nitrous? The reason I ask, there are better cams out there for a motor with stock (or ported) heads.
I have a CC306 in my Firebird, it's not bad for a driver (my car is not a daily driver). You lose a little low end, but above 3k it picks up. IMO, pick a cam based on your combo, not because you want a lumpy idle. Any aftermarket cam can be tuned to give a little more or less lope. |
only reason i should see you to go with it, is that in the future you will do headwork, headers, but if your just doing a cam swap, then dont wast the time on something that big with stock heads and manifolds. however if you plan to do heads and such, i say GO WITH IT.

I daily drive my car with the CC306 and 3600 stall. :)
Once you get use to it, its not a problem at all. |
i have the gm 847 cam, i drive this car every where, i had the 306 . with a good tune it will drive like stock just allot more power:D

Not to hijack your thread, but what mods do you have, Schurters LT1? NA, my car makes 381rwhp/347rwtq. Just curious, as I think my crappy heads are holding me back with the 306. In addition to a TH400 and direct port nitrous system this winter, I was thinking of porting my heads and going with a different cam.

What head are you running and who ported them you can make 400rwhp with the 306 cam and the RIGHT set of ported heads, you are going to kill daily driving with the T400, will be a killer set up at the track:bow: |
JeffStar did it in his six speed, well tunned plenty of people have ran cams that size in six speed cars.

This is a good thread because I was going to ask a similar question. I am getting things together soon to start an engine buildup for my friend. he is going with the TEA 11second head/cam package. I talked to brent a while back and he said they normally use the 230/236 cam but the cc306 would yield more power and still streetable. I was wondering myself how everyone likes it. The car will have around 3000-3500 stall w/lockup and 3.73's.
thanks for the info, and I didn't mean to highjack your thread either. Jason |

Originally posted by PostalZ I've got JeffStar's camaro now. The thing was a beast when you threw the hammer down, but I daily drove it right up until the day i whacked a valve at the track . It was lopey, but not so bad- I often sat in traffic with it, no problems. That said, keep your rev limiter at a sane level. Please, think of your valvetrain. |

Originally posted by 94 CAMRO Z28 Hey Postal...I live on the north side of Appleton and work in GreenBay. You ever run your car at WIR? I usually run when I can down there. Aaron i made it there in june, but the last run i bounced off the 6800 rpm rev limiter for the last time. It busted a spring and dropped a valve. Winter project is a full valve/spring job. I was there and saw a white F-150 Lightning run a 10.9. Makes me want an NX kit so i can keep up, but i like my car set up for the curves, not drag, so i get horrible 60' times. best so far is 2.2 on street tires. I don't plan on slicks until i have the budget to buy a 12bolt when the stocker snaps :D |

I thought it was funny that our HP/TQ rw numbers were almost identical :) |
