casting numbers?

Is this an LT1 block casting number?

What are the LT1 block casting numbers?

It looks to be what it called the "engine identification number".

V= Flint engine plant

10=month produced

10=day produced

XHY=type code

I have not found the type code breakdown so far.

Is there any way that you can tell what year via the casting number?

Doubt it.

However, every engine that rolled off the assembly line with a car wrapped around it, had a VIN derivative stamped on it.
