Carbed Lt1 Ignition

I am in the process of accumulating the parts I need for this conversion. I plan on getting rid of the optispark and running a distributor and ignition box. I was told GM made a part to plug the hole from the opti. Does anyone know the part number? Also, is there a particular distributor needed for the LT1. I figure I will need a crab style cap to fit under the wiper cowl. Any hints or tips would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Also, for all you guys who are against carbs, tell it to the monitor, because I don't really want to hear it. My other Z28 is still fuel injected, and will stay that way. I just want a different setup in this one.

ive also heard of that but when i did the conversion it was about 6 years ago when the manifold first came out. if you cant get the part, i just left my opti in place unplugged and whatnot. didnt hurt anything.

why not just get a round piece of steel or aluminum, the size of the hole without the seal in it, and jb weld it in. Sounds crude, but that is how my water pump drive hole is sealed, except I used a quarter (thanks to whoever posted that trick on this board!)

for the time i had the car i only had a 750 quadrajet. i know, old technology but thats all i had. car ran like a bat out of hell. felt stronger than any stock lt1 motor ive driven. the only thing non stock was the carb setup and a catback. stock manifold. then the tranny crapped. havent touched it since. im pulling the motor and tranny this weekend and dumping the car. its a third gen that has developed some rust. getting rid of it.

The opti spark delete is GM #12367600. I bought one through Pace Performance and it cost $68.90 to my door. It uses the same mounting bolt holes as the opti spark and doesn't look bad. GMPP has a photo. I am working on the same project and I am trying to find a GM balancer to work. It will need to be keyed, have timing marks and work with the serpentine belt. If you have any luck let me know. After market balancers are available but pricey.
