Car will not lose traction, bad or good? (a4 3.23)
I feel like it's definitely the tires. I have a 94 z w/3.23 a4 and i have the same set of tires on my salad shooter rims(stock) and I would never spin at all. But I got the newer 2000 model z rims and they came with Kumos and they suck a$$ bad, I spin through 1st and catch 2nd with them!!! and they are z-rated. The bottom line is the sumitumos are a better tracking tire. I am getting the sumitumo tires put on the new rims very soon.
Well that leaves me happy. I just wanted to make sure nothing was wrong with the car. When I first got the car the tires that were on it were pretty much bald, so spinning was no problem whatsoever. Often times quite an inconvenience. So maybe these tires actually are pretty decent? I still think Sears ripped me off. (haha)
I put Sumitomo HTR+ 245/50/16's on my wife's 2001 Camaro V6 and her car will spin them really well through first.
You sure you don't have traction control or the car starting off in 2nd gear when it should be in 1st?
My Formula has traction control so that's why I ask you about that.
And I've seen one car with the 2nd gear start switch on it so I thought I'd ask about that as well.

Traction??? WTF is that??
The 6er Camaro I had used to be able to chirp the tires, and that was punching it with an auto and lsd, so you might want to get that checked out. Although traction is a good thing, stock lt1 levels of power should let you spin them fairly viscously from a stop- I have minimal mods and on a good day most of first gear is a joke as far as going anywhere is concerned if I'm not careful- but it does make people stare.
But I'd check out my ignition system if I were you, a lot of the time breaking traction isn't as much about horsepower as it is about responsiveness- if your engine responds to the go pedal quickly, it will send a massive load of torque to the tires all at once, and once you lose traction, it's harder to get it back.
Good luck. A Z28 without burnouts is like a muscle car without a V8...

Mine won't either, but she's also wearing 275/45s. Once in a blue moon, I'll chirp second and thats with this opti or fuel problem I'm having. With the old tires, it wasn't funny. I'd kick the back in out goin in 2nd. In the rain was even worse. Sideways at 60.... I doubt it's anything wrong with your car though. See if you have any codes, which you may have not noticed or it could be internally. Never hurts to check.
when i first got my car it wouldn't spin barely at all from dead stop and i was like wtf somethin must be wrong hehe. well those tires were kind of getting bald and they still stuck good.
i went to these different tires and from dead stop if i gun it i can't get traction worth a crap.
old tires that came on car were pretty soft. these new ones are harder.
car is auto with 2.73's.

93 cars didn't come with traction control. I honestly don't know what it is. No big deal though. Ideal city driving from stop lights shouldn't consist of flooring it everywhere. Car drives fine otherwise.
Just because people have Z-rated tires, doesnt mean that you will have good traction. The speed rating means that the tire will travel in a straight line up to the speed limit of that tire. It also has nothing to do w/ handling/corbering. Hence some lower rated tires may handle better than z-rated tires.
Well, I can't get my car to spin with the sumi's on but with the kumo's on i can dogg it out. I don't know what y'all are talking about, the sumi's track so good I don't spin first or second with them on. So maybe its a car thing. I no it's not that I am losing power because I can beat most z's with similar mods around here so don't know what your talking about.
