Unhappy Car up and died on me...

Hey guys, I was driving last night and the car just died on me. The radio kept on playing so I didn't think it was the battery or alternator. I tried cranking her, she cranked but just wouldn't turn over, please help... Someone at the local performance shop here said to try the ignition module, the wire leading from the coil to the opti? I really need soem help here please.. Ideas? Thanks in advance.

Try checking for spark first..get a spark tester and plug one of your spark plug wires on to it. If you get spark, most likely it's fuel related. Check the fuel pump pressure. If it doesn't get spark, the first thing I'd replace is the coil - this is a usual start/no start symptom. The ignition module should cause the car to start and die moments later. The distributor/optispark usually has a hesitation at a certain rpm, but the car will still start. Good luck

As stated earlier look at your coil wire, ignition coil and maybe opti. How many miles does your car have??

I pulled the sparkplug wire, had the girlfriend crank it over, no spark, tried a new ignition control module, no joy, the new coil wire, MSD, looked brand new...Any thing else? BTW, it has a MSD ignition...

Check all your fuses, especially ignition and fuel injector. If they blow, you won't get a running engine.

unhook the MSD from the coil connection and hook it back without the MSD and see if that helps. If it does then the MSD is bad but I wouldnt be supprised if the opti is bad also at that point, i had both go at the same time.

Wouldn't the Opti-crap allow the car to at least start?

what you had happen is a good sign of the opti crappin out, car just dies and doesnt start back up, that or the ICM, prolly the opti though, check coil to oti wire for corrision if not, replace opti id say

Not just yours...

Yesterday I was driving and for some reason let the clutch up to quick and it died on me. NP, well I went to restart it and it wouldn't start. I was on an incline so I rolled back till I was slightly level. After continously trying to start it and nothing I hit the gas like it was a carb. car and it spuddered and then fired right up. I have never had a problem with the car dying or not starting on me and no water has gotten on or near the opti. I haven't had any problems since then with the car. What gives???
