Unhappy Car studering BAD at WOT

I drove the car last night and everything was perfect. When i got in it this morning i turned the key it turned over but didnt start right away. took about 1 1/2 seconds to start. Not normal for my car. So it started up and sounded fine. I backed up put it in drive and hit the light to pull straight then when i got on it just a little i studared and i heard a popping sound from under the hood and it studered and the SES light came on (dont know what code) so i stop and looked onder the hood i thought the belt broke. when i look onder my home made air intake wasnt on all the way so i put it on it isnt in there tight loos enuf to just push it on. So i started aging and same thing. The poping sound is a backfire comming out the air intake. I drove it for like 5 min to see what it was doing. It seems to run fine at low RPM's but when ever go above around 2500 - 3500 it studers really bad. Is there some thing that i can check now befor i have to go to a shop? I dont have any cash right now i have to move next weekend all money is in that.

You gotta get that intake on there good, man. Any vacuum leak after the MAF will cause stumbles. The bigger the leak, the larger the stumble.

Whats happening is that the car is getting a lot more air than it thinks, so it's running super lean and backfiring out the intake.

Seal that intake up real good and see how it goes.

Check your MAF. It might have gotten dirty from the filter not being on all the way. I know thats what happened to mine, something got past the filter, and got the hotwires a little dirty.
