Re: Car bogs, stumbles, misses, but only when hot.

hey there, this is actually the first time i have responded this this blog so i hope i can help, cause i have done everything else and still ahve the exact same problem, for the last f**ing year! I have had it on a scanner like 6 times now, and that whinning sound you are hearing is the air pump. I actually just got it disconnected. But on the studdering problem, i have changed fuel injection, all the sensors, wires, plugs pretty much everything. I was told its my cat converter. i would go there. That is the next thing i am changing. i am getting mine changed this week, so i will tell you how it goes. No one can seem to figure my problem out, and it doesnt pop up on the scanner. I have even changed the computer itself. Well will get back to you.

Why dont you punch your cat out. If you are planning on getting a new one anyways, you can atleast see if the cat is the problem. Worst case, it fixes the problem and you don't like the sound, then you can still buy a hi-flow cat. Nothing lost cept for time.

Throttle Sensor: .64 volts
Battery Voltage High : no
Engine RPM: 750
Right OXy sense: 145 mvolts

Some of those readings look really off to me, but it would be best if you could post more. Both left and right O2 sensor readings, integrators, block learns, ect. And over more than a single frame if you can.

You may want to get a confirmation from someone else here before you try, but I believe unplugging both oxygen sensors would put the car in open loop and allow you to see if the problem is completely eliminated or if it is indeed heat related. (just be sure to tie the wires in a safe place so they don't burn through on the exhaust.)

The block learn and integrator you did post both look awefully lean to me, has anyone else seen numbers quite that lean? Did you say the plugs you removed did not show significant wear and a good tan burn?

Re: Car bogs, stumbles, misses, but only when hot.

Today I went out for the usual drive and it was fine at first then hell broke loose. It started acting up and its condition declined. In my driveway it had a really eratic idle anbd lots of backfiring in Park. There was a moment where there was some hissing and things got worse and then better as the hissing went away. Here are the numbers from a capture:

Prom ID 9611
Fans were off
CLosed Loop
Learn Control Enabled
CCP Purge: Off
Battery Voltage High: No
TCC Status Not Locked
Learned Idle Pos: 35 Steps
EGR Duty Cycle: 0.0%
Knock Retard: 0 degrees
Engine run time : 1490 seconds
engine rpm 750
spark advance 20 degrees
desired idle 650 rpm
idel air meter pos: 76 steps
ccp duty cycle: 0.0%
right integrator value 62
left integrator value 52
blk lrn cell 16
right block lrn value 108
left block learn value 108
right oxy sense: 162 mvolts
left oxy sense: 277 mvolts
manifold air temp: 87.3 degrees
battery voltage: 12.8 volts
throttle sensoe .64 volts
map sensor 1.58
coolant temp 200.3
a/c pressure 5 psi

If anyone had some input I'd really appreciate it since the car isnt exactly driveable and im stumped at what to do. Thanks!

Edit: Also when I first put the scanner on it said code 41 I think, but it wont show up again.

i'm pretty sure your 02 sensor readings should not be that diff. from each other.

I appreciate your help 84 Monte, but your reply was to someone elses problem within this thread whose plugs were fouled on one side. That was not the case with me. All my plugs look similar.

Re: Car bogs, stumbles, misses, but only when hot.

Just scanned the car while acting fine and both 02d were at 479mv, so I think I have the problem. So whcih one is bad, the low one or high one? Or should I get both?

I would personally go with both, especially if they haven't been replaced in a while.

Were the O2 sensors holding a steady reading, or were they rapidly changing as you watched?

I dont think my autoxray does realtime. I have to hit scan, and I think that they were changing at ever scan.

They should be flucuating at a rapid rate. Should stay under 1.0.

Re: Car bogs, stumbles, misses, but only when hot.

My question regarding this is how many miles are on those O2 sensors to begin with?
