Which cam and stall for a daily driver?
 

Hey I have a 95 z28 with a couple extra little mods such as a e-cutout, airfoil, etc...to go along with my signature mods. Which cam would be good for daily driving with noticeable power gains? I was thinking of getting the hotcam kit. Would that get me into the 12's range? I have not taken my car to the track yet to see what it currently runs. Also with the cam, what stall would be perfect for daily driving to go along with power gains?

cc 503 is the best cam on stock heads .... Stall 2800-3600
you have to change the springs when doing a cam swap.
if your budget allows you to buy 1.6rr go for it

You should get into the 12's with the stock cam. You just need some more bolt-ons.

I forgot to mention I also have 373 gears, and a tune. What other bolt ons would I get? how much would that separate cam setup cost compared to $581.99 hotcam kit that includes springs and 1.6rr? Emissions is a little important in case I move over to another county. I'm in Ohio, any labor estimates?

A 7.0-second 1/8th mile converts to roughly, a 10.9-second 1/4-mile. I don't think he'll run that with a cam.

How much more power does the cc503 make than the hotcam? I think I might buy the parts separately anyway since there are good prices for the stuff you need, just I need the best everyday street cam with a lot of attitude that could go along with a future stall most likely under 3k, probably between 2500-2800.

No, but I havent gotten a quote yet, theres no way im paying that much labor though. Thats really high. Im in ohio where did you get quoted?

Stall and labor cost me $1000 dollars
going fast ain't cheap
1.6rr springs guide plates studs tune and some other stuff??? $1200 dollars parts and labor ??

I have read 10 hp through other forums. I have never seen any proof or documentation that this is true. I would think it would be pretty close with the 503 peaking slightly higher cause of the increased duration.

Dont forget bigger fuel injectors. I plan on going with 30 lb injectors.

How was was labor for your stall and how much did your 1/4 improve with it? I will be calling around soon, Im just saving money right now and getting advice.

$600 to do the cam, $300 for stall. I'm leaning towards the cc503 for my daily driver, is that a good all around choice? I don't think I'll have a stall right away, will I be alright with just the the cam for a while?

You should get the stall and some gears first. $300 won't buy a good converter, more like $700. Don't forget springs, rockers, tune, some tires and misc stuff you need before the cam.

That does seem to be under priced ??? or I got ripped off ... I think I paid something like
700-750 dollars for parts and 200-300 dollars in labor
I'm going to look at the paper work the next time I'm in the car ...
