cam install check list

getting ready to start a cam install this winter. Right now I have a set of comp 1.6 roller rockers, and my girlfriend got me a GM 847 cam for christmass (got to love the gf that gets you a cam for christmass lol).

I know im going to need new vavle springs what type.

Guessing I cant get away with using a new stock timing chain so either an electric water pump and a cloyds or an lt4 (what do you guys think is the best way to go).

Can I run the 847 on stock lifters?

What else am I going to need to pick up for this project, I am on a tight budget but also dont want to spend the time and money just to half a$$ it.

Also with this cam 3.73 or 4.10 to keep the lowend good without killing the topend?

Definately spend some time with the search feature, especially for the
valve springs, as there are as many combinations as people that respond.

Re: cam install check list

With NSA Rockers, you need hardened pushrods. They are like $20 from Combination Motorsports. Do some research on the valvesprings and lifters. Theres tons of great info on here thawill lead you in the right direction.
