cam button

Need to know of you use a double roller, and lose the opti/go with distributor. If the timing plug part# 12367600 from gm, you can use a cam button or how do people keep the cam from walking.

What double roller set are you using?

I'm running the Cloyes 3145 double roller and the cam retainer plate fits just fine.

My friend is running the Comp double roller and runs his retainer plate just fine as well.

Try one of those sets instead.

Re: cam button

Hrm, not familiar with that, all I know is those two I mentioned above work fine with the cam retainer plate. Never heard of anyone using a cam button with our cars.. doesn't mean it's never happened, just never seen it.

Go with what works IMO

To the cover I took a die grinder around the thick part of the inside around the opti spark hole. Install the chain setup, rub some grease on it, put the cover on, turn the engine over by hand and see where the grease rubbed off. Shave some off, test fit again until you have no grease left.

Re: cam button

The cam isn't cut for the lt1, its cut for a older style 350. The only difference is for the retainer plate.

WHY?????
Ya opened up a whole new can of worms.
If ya MAKE a button make sure it fits as to not let the cam walk more than .010.
