Question Callies Crankshaft Identification HELP please.

Ok, so I recently purchased a rotating assembly, block, and some extras. It was advertised as a Callies Dragonslayer 3.875 inch stroker crankshaft, eagle rods, SRP pistons.

The parts showed up yesterday, I'd like some help confirming the identification of these parts (mainly the crank) since they were purchased "second-hand".

I'd post pictures, but I left my camera in a different state (it's being mailed back to me)

The rods say: Eagle on one-side, CRS-6000-BS on the other.

The crank says: STEALTH, 97 CALLIES, 3 8 7 5,
Then on the snout it says: M1A 47 94 6

I'm assuming the numbers on the rods mean they're 6.0in in length. And the 3875 on the crank designates the stroke; is this right? What I'm most curious about is that it says STEALTH. So, is this a stealth crank instead of a dragonslayer? If so, what's the difference?

That pretty much sounds right....The dragon slayer was renamed Stealth, then I think back to dragon slayer again ... or is that Stealth......The pistons should say SRP under the piston by the pin...and the number...55? (can't remember off hand) model number.......

Thumbs up

Ok, thanks for the help on the crank, I'm clear on that now.

I just gave a good once over on these pistons and here's the numbers I found underneith, on either side of the wristpin:

15377 60530
NU-TEK

Then only 5 of the pistons show the numbers above along with: DRP 172

And that's it. I have no intentions of using these pistons since they're supposedly only a 14cc dish; I need roughly double that. Also only about 6 of 'em are in stellar shape. I'd just like to figure out exactly what they are, so I can give them away, or sell 'em and not misinform someone.

Thanks again,
Andrew

Well they are not SRP pistons, they don't make a 6.0" rod 3.875" stroke piston that is dished.

I was doing some searching on google....ran across an GMHP online article covering Nu-Tek Motorsports. I have a strong hunch this entire rotating assembly, block, and main caps came from them (un-assembled). Or atleast from someone who purchased these parts originally from them.

Any idea on how I can get specs for these pistons, or if my hunch is correct? I'll post some links here a lil' later to that article and some pictures.

I need to source some pistons here in the next couple days to finish my build. It's probably best to just start a new thread, unless any of you reading this have some tips for where to start looking for dished pistons to go with my 3.875 stroke, .030 over, 6.00 rods?

I can't find anything through any of the vendors I normally buy parts from. Alteast not published. I should probably make some phone calls.

Thanks again for any help,
Andrew

that would be around a 1.000" compression hight and hard to get a dish in such a thin piston top as that.

Maybe a ROSS custom piston or some sort of step dish custom piston might be doable?

If you cannot get a piston to fit the 6.0" rod/3.875" stroke application maybe best bet would be to ditch the 6.0" rod and go with a 5.850" rod

SRP D-dish piston #148988 (-14cc) would fit that.

Ok, getting different rods if I want a big dish, is what I keep getting recommended. Thanks for the help, I guess I need to price out these pistons (soon as I find them) and see what kind of price difference I'm looking at. I was hoping I wouldn't have to ditch these rods and buy another set . But I'll do what's neccessary.

Maybe this is a sign to ditch the blower and go N/A

I have some thinking to do.

Here is a link to exactly what you have:

You need to measure the compression height of those pistons.

Yep, thats what I was looking at earlier...according to their right-up Nu-Tek offered up to a 28cc dish. Which would be perfect. Tomorrow I'll measure the CH on the ones I have. Then do some price hunting. It'd be nice if I could just find a set of those 28cc Nu-Tek's and get rid of these 14cc's I have.

The dead give away for me was this: http://gmhightechperformance.com/tec...ery16_zoom.jpg

The main caps that came with my parts we're hogged out just like the one on the left in that picture.

That company must have had a good deal going, since supposedly all these are SRP pistons stamped with the Nu-Tek name.

If anyone has a set of these for sale, now would be a good time to chime in.

Or you could have done what I did on my first stroker block. Paid for a Callies crank, Oliver rods and J&E pistons assembled in a block. About three years later found out the block contained a Cola crank, Eagle rods and J&E/SRP pistons.

Your doing the right thing........Amazing what people will pull.
