I'm looking for a Kick ASS cam!
I figure doesn't make since to go through all that for the waterpump and not do something with the cam since I'm right there. What cam should one look into for making agressive Street power...but still good enough for every day driving? Already Set on a set of 1.7's. The only thing is that I don't plan on getting the Stock Heads worked till August sometime. If I get an agressive ass cam will it hurt my engine? If I don't have the easy breather heads? Also....If I do the cam and lifters now...but the cam requires PCM tunning....will I jack my car up if I don't get it tuned anytime soon? Like not for a couple of months? "B-Easie Dawg B-Easie" |
For everyday driving...I'd go with the Hotcam or the C305. You don't want surging and idling probs.
If you decide to go aggressive......no a poor flowing head won't hurt it but you will not get everything you can outta the cam without some good heads. The stock ones will choke um. You'll need to ge the tune. Depending on what size cam you're going with......it might run like crap. |
you can run decent with a 306 on stock heads, but it also depends on what kind of exhaust work you have done
plus, do you have an auto or manual? |
I have a manual T-56
With full 3 inch exhaust...hi flow cat...Circle track muffler...shorties blah blah....you get the idea So in other words It's better to wait and just do my cam job after I get the heads worked? |
Go ahead and do the cam, but instead of the 1.7 rockers, get something that gives better valve train geometry like a 1.5 or 1.6 and get the lift from your cam instead.
|
I would just save up more money to get the cam and head work done at the same time. A cam will really respond to a set of racing heads or ported/polished stock ones.

:p

If you're looking for a kick ass cam get the CC306 and a tune. You need headers though, and I'm not sure if you said you had them or not. I don't think it would hurt anything, but I would not do a cam before some headers.

I dont think many people would recommend 1.7rr's with a mean ass cam
|
I always thought the Larger rockers were at an advantage.

for instance, on a stock 94-95 cam, the duration is 203/208 and the lift numbers with 1.5rr's are .450/.460, 1.6rr's = .480/.491, 1.7rr's = .510/521....
on a 230/236 the lift numbers would be: 1.5 = .510/.521 1.6 = .544/.556 1.7 = .578/.590 or .591 if you are supposed to round |
Yeah your right
I'm glad I found this board...saving me allot of money and frustraition.:D |
