Bryan Herter ( www.pcmforless.com ) delivers BIG TIME! AGAIN!!!

Once again, Bryan delivers under the clutch. I bought a program from him last year for my P&P heads/306/injectors/etc and since he offers updates, I asked him to write a program for my new setup. In TWO DAYS i get an email with my new program for my 358/T-76 etc! In-fricking-credible service Bryan. TOP NOTCH

Now I've just got to put it all back together this weekend and FIRE it UP!

www.pcmforless.com ... good guys ... GREAT service.... GREAT product

Well not to rain on your parade, but my program from Bryan Herter wasnt all that close. I had him do an update for my heads and cam from a stock motor, and the A/F wasnt even close on the dyno. It started out at I believe around 14.7-15:1 A/F ratio. This was dangerously lean if you ask me. I dont know why he doesnt make them on the rich side somewhat to be safe. He also changed several other things in the computer program that I didnt even have on the car. I just wouldnt rave about the program until you go to the dyno and see what happens. My car started out at 325 rwhp with his program, and then my friend did some work on the program and it came to 373 rwhp. The 380 rwhp came from having the cutout open. This is my opinion, and you can go from there.

geez, you mean to tell me you got better numbers after you had it on the dyno and could change it from there? odd...

In my experience, Bryan had my car back on the road for far less money than the high dollar guys... and I still pulled 25 mpg on the interstate with my 306. Not bad for a mail order tune.

Why wouldnt I get better numbers on the dyno after my tuner friend messed with the computer?? There is no way possible that a mail order tune will be exactly right, EVER. Every car is different and each one requires different things done to it. Bryan's tunes are fairly cheap and they are good for a start up tune, but I personally would use it after that. My tuning was done very very cheap(thanks Dan) but the dyno wasnt. I spent 90 bucks an hr renting the dyno and spent 3 hours up there. Once the car was tuned PROPERLY, it ran sooo much better on the street that it wasnt even funny. Do what you want, but MY OPINION is not to get a mail order tune.

Im sorry but Bryan is the F*CKIN MAN!!

The previous owner used him before with the hotcam and other stuff. I called bryan and all i needed was the name, from there. I did a 383 stroker with the same cam and head work and Ford SVo injectors.

His program makes the car run great, the first time. I'm having him tone down the injectors but thats the worst of it.

PCMforless is the best accept no subistute.

I'm not going to get into this anymore than I already have and I'd thank you to do the same.

If you'll look closely, you'll see that I have made italics on the word "better." That was sarcasm. I completely understand that you can't get a mail order tune to be dead on, but in my case, it was pretty damn good. Of course your buddy got better results than Bryan... he had the car on a dyno.

In closing, Bryan did a nice job on my program. The end

I should have my PCM here from Bryan in a few days. He was very helpful and seems to be very quick. I'm going to try and get a before and after, but we'll see.

" There is no way possible that a mail order tune will be exactly right, EVER". My question is "why did you order it" from Bryan in the first place, "if" you already knew as much?

this thread is obserd. PCM for less is great for hotcams, stock motors, tiney head work.

Once you start doing crazy stuff, hes just not a dyno, period. I used him as a baseline. thats about it. If your getting huge cams and huge heads- you need a dyno tune period. And i think bryan will agree. He is not, nor does he claim to be a dyno.

However, I need to get my car to a dyno so I asked him to write me up a program and run me rich just to be safe.

LT4 HC is as far as i would take bryan and not need a dyno tune.

When you start playing with huge cams, custom heads and other factors- he will tell you the same. Its better, but not perfect.

Its going to take me 6-8 weeks to get on a dyno. Bryan will probobly save me time up there and I can at least drive a bit with the mail order tune.

Agreed.

I wouldn't even say that. A friend got his base file from Bryan and the the car was very lean. Between 14 and 15:1 throughout the rpm range.

As far as I know, stock is much much richer than that.

Well I knew there would be a smarta$$ chime in here sometime. But the reason I ordered it from Bryan in the first place was to have a base program in it to start it up. After a friend of mine in this post checked out the program, we decided not to keep that program in the car for street duty and came up with another program. When I went down to dyno the car, we decided to load in the PCMFORLESS program and see how close he really is. THIS is when I found out the program wasnt even close. ANd that is why I was replying to this thread in the first place. And for Jesse_Boyer, since you are building an FI motor, I would be very very carefull with your car and Bryans program.

Trey,

14.7 is not stock as far as I know, I believe its alot richer than that, like 11-12:1 or fatter. Dan can probably answer that for ya.

But anyway, you guys that "Praise" PCMFORLESS can think what you want, BUT I have first hand experience on how lean they really are.

Brian
