Broken tranny mount...
Well, thanks to some help from the Houston F-body list, I figured out that the "thud" I had was simply a broke rubber tranny mount....
My question is, do these things break frequently? The guy at Autozone who sold me the replacement had an LT1 Trans Am (I saw it in the parking lot), and he said he'd changed his 3 times :O ....
Anyway. It was an easy fix.... The pictures tell all, heh:

I guess if it gives me any more trouble, I'll throw a poly mount on it.

Looks EXACTLY like my broken mount... and everybody elses, I'm sure.
Yes, they break frequently. But they're a relatively cheap, easy, and quick fix. Poly mounts, especially the Energy Suspension one, are known to 'cause viration by repositioning the 4L60/E and messing with the driveshaft positioning. Your probably better off with an LS1 rubber mount. THe rubber is thicker and won't tear as easily.

Mine was just severely rotted and cracked. My prothane mount doesnt vibrate at all.....can't tell its there. It vibrated a little for a week now it feels like the stock one did in its prime.
Autozone tranny mounts are garbage, expect to replace them every other month. The only nice thing about them is the lifetime warranty. I would just fork out the extra cash for an Energy Suspension mount. Out here Autozone carries them, so you might want to check that out next time you are there.

I replaced mine with a poly mount and that's been 5 years now!
