Break up once hot

Is it a typical sympom of Opti spark going south?

My '95 runs fine during warm-up but starts to mis-fire (I believe) once it reaches 180 deg. Then it gets worse with time. Very pronounced at 2600 rpm ~ 78 mph. Cool down overnight and then the cold start and warm up run fine....until around 180 deg then the process repeats.

My Freescan keeps locking up during data collection so I'm admitting to guessing at the misfire diagnosis. New wires, and just pulled and cleaned all the plugs.

Also what's the best scan software to use with my AKM interface cable? Freescan isn't really compatable with my '95 I guess, hence the constant lock ups.

Thanks

Id check your plugs again, make sure none of them are cracked, and make sure all the tips are on tightly. Check your wires, make sure they arent arking or burnt.

Freescan should be completely compatable with your 95...id check coil, and wires, then go for the opti. usually problems that arise when car gets hot are ignition problems and usually a coil problem

wheni burnt my plug wire( #7) it would start after about 5 minutes of driving, and was very "pronounced" at 50 mph in OD. if u have 2.73, sounds like identical problem! check into that, might be arcing wire

Re: Break up once hot

Thanks for all the quick responses guys.

I'll take the advice and climb back in to the plugs wires and coil (coil I did not check!). I guess I just have this Optifobia based on all the stories.....
