bolt ons

Just bought a 94 auto hardtop GU5 z28. The car is stock with only flowmaster catback and K&N cai. What are some good bolt ons to do? I can't do an off road y or headers because of CA smog. How much HP do stock auto LT1's typically dyno? Thanks for the help guys.

Search and ye shall find.

But until then, you can use smog legal headers like SLP's midlengths to get some extra HP/TQ. Stocker A4's run around 230-250 rwhp. Sell the flowmaster and get a better flowing stainless exhaust. Other bolt on's Electric waterpump is good for around 8-10rwhp, other than that drop a mild bump stick in her and a nice stall. Dont forget sticky tires are a F-Body's bet friend, as long as your 10 bolt holds. Traction off the line is hard to come by.

Re: bolt ons

The car has 125k miles so I was thinking about doing a tune up before anything major. I know the fuel pump/filter, belt tensioner and ac pullies were recently replaced. I was thinking of getting NGK TR55 plugs, MSD wires and a 160 degree thermostat, possibly replace the water pump as well. The engine seems strong. Also I think I will be keeping the flowmaster catback, it sounds beefy.

Re: bolt ons

sounds beefy, but youll get tired of it. it took me 2 years to get tired of mine. plus youll see more gains with a different catback.

check out www.madz28.com for some tuning to go with your tune-up

Re: bolt ons

Can Madz28 tuning advance the timing. Also how bad is it for the tranny to have "firmer" shifts?

increasing the line pressure on a stock 4L60E isnt the best idea. he may be able to slightly increase it without many troubles, but itll shorten the life of your trans...

I have had my Flowmaster on my car for 4 years. Still in great shape, I'm happy with it.
