Bolt on LT1 at the dyno

Went to the dyno today. Can't say im upset or happy. Didn't really know what to expect. . Put down 289whp/323tq. Air fuel was pretty close to dead on. Besides the second pull it was a little leaner. Is that normal for my mods? Was done on a dyno Dynamics dyno. Temp was around 85. Pretty much stock with hollowed cats i put down 262whp/ 285tq. Ill get the sheets up tomorrow.
Mods in sig. Only difference is 3.42's and have umi lower control arms and panhard bar. I also have a set of 1.6rr's and crank pulley going in next week to help boost some power

For the mods listed I think those are good numbers, remember HP does not move the car TQ does!

slomarao 07-16-2009 01:17 PM

they dont look bad. Do you have the pcm tune yet?
The crank pulley isnt worth too much but the rockers should be 10-12rwhp all in the upper rpms. Your going to want to spin the motor a little higher with them too.

You got exactly what is expected of those mods. It's not a weak lt1 to begin with so be happy.

headers and cai. numbers look fine. rockers might put you at 300. i was at 326 with longtubes, factory lt1 ws6 ram air setup and a 224/224 cam with supporting valvetrain, so yours looks good to me. my tq was at 345 tho:)

Yes, I have a mail order. And the a/f is pretty much dead on.

I plan on h/c in the near future. I'm being told that the stock springs wont work with 1.6sa rr's.? is this true

I ran stock springs with my stock cam and 1.6 RRs Comp Cams Pro Magnums, no problem. When I upgraded my cam, then I upgraded my springs.

One problem with your stock springs is that they are 15 years old and probably all worn out. You should probably change the springs when doing the RRs.

I like the TQ curve.......Solid flat across the board......That's a street car that drive with the best of them.

MikeGyver 07-16-2009 07:23 PM

Geez! look at that torque curve... well, line.

slomarao 07-16-2009 11:17 PM

what about a ls lid, ssra or ftra and the rockers springs. Than a cutout.

You should be close to my numbers. its a strong car.

The springs only have around 3k on them along with the rest of the motor. So i'd like to think i should be fine.

Oh yes and it also breaks 10 bolts with a set of nitto drag radials. When I turn it feels like my rear is shifting and i hear a popping sound. This is my 2nd rear. probly gonna be a 3rd before i bite the bullet for a 12 bolt or something.

lol I was surprised at the tq. line. Didnt think it would stay that steady across. Made me happy.

I'll look into a lid at a further date when i get some type of functional hood. I actually have dual cutouts on my y pipe. Just not electric. Didnt even think of pulling them off when the tech. asked me if I wanted to do anything between runs. ahh next time. I'm gonna get my 1.6rr's installed Monday and hope to break into the 300whp club lol. Idk if its worth the extra money to get it retuned for just rr's.

95ltslow 07-18-2009 11:05 PM

I'm heading back to the dyno after the rr install and a tune. I have dual cutouts on my y pipe. Would I see any power increase by opening up both of them?
