Red face Blinker not working.

Ok here is the problem. My driver side blinker does not work, it stays lit constantly never blinking. I looked in my Haynes manual and it said that if one side stay lit and the other side does not make the clicking noise then the blinker relay is out. Well mine does click on the passenger side, so I am lost to what is wrong.

I tried a new bulb, did not work even though old one was good. I wiggled the wires and still nothing, it did work for like two seconds then stopped again. I am lost as to what is wrong. Any suggestions?

Also if it is the blinker relay where is it located? Because the place where the haynes manual says it is is wrong.

It's annoying I always use my blinkers so I don't like them not to work, not to mention it is a ticketable problem.

its your blinker fluid

on a serious note though, I'm not to sure what makes it blink, some sort of relay I assume, that would be the problem.

My driver side rear light does the same thing. I finally figured out that its the light socket that is messed up. My local dealship wants like $44 for the socket which I think is way to much. I haven't had time to go to the junk yard but I bet I can find it for less than $10 there. Hope this helps you.

Xride I know it is the relay, my question was where is it? I looked in my manual and I did not see it where the manual says it is. So I am basically wondering if anyone has replaced it can they tell me where it is.

When you say he socket you are talking about the piece the bulb goes in which goes into the tail light housing correct? How did you check it to see if that is the problem?

And those things do not look easy to replace. GM uses those funky connectors.

oh ok,

"The Turn signal flasher, a small canister shaped unit located under the dash, in a clip to the left of the stearing column, flshes the turn signals."

Simple to diagnose, maybe not a simple fix, does the rear lamp light and stay on? and you said it worked for a couple of seconds after you wiggled the wires. Did it blink? sounds like an open circuit the same thing you get when you have a burned out bulb. wiggle the wires again. the guy above is right its a silver canister right near the steering column. cheap part to check. if its a open circuit that becomes difficult but not impossible. look at the wires going into the socket look for frays or breaks in the wire. got a buddy with an F-body swap blinker canisters and check that part that way.

I have wiggled the wires and it worked then stopped, I don't think it is my wires though because I put in a new bulb wiggled the wires again and got nothing blinking.

I do not know where the canister is, it's not to the left of the steering column at least not on my car. I did not see it, all I saw were a lot of wires and not canister shaped relay.

I am asking where the canister is located, since the haynes manual appears to be wrong, and I looked for a good twenty minutes.

the socket is the thing that holds the light. the way i found it was my socket is cause I thought the light burnt out so I replaced with a new one. Once I put in the new light nothing happened. So for some reason I wiggled the wires and it started to blink and once I let go of it, it stop blinking. So I guess it isn't making a connection inside.

Well after I read this post I decided to go mess with my light again. Well I ghetto rigged my light using hot glue. heck its not anyone can see what I did . I wiggled the wire around till it started blinking and held it in placed while I threw some hot glue on it. I did this on saturday and so far so good. The sucker works good now.

Flasher location.

Probably a socket or bulb, though.

Mine does the same thing, but with the passenger side. But it works perfectly when the 4ways are on, so could it still be the turn signal relay. Unless the four way and turn signal use the same relay, I think thats my problem.

So where can you get a new turn signal flasher? How much do they cost from the dealer.

Thanks for the pic I might look into it this weekend. Mine also worked once I wiggled the wires for like 2 seconds, but I did not get it to work again even wiggling th wires with the new bulb. I hate little problems like this.
