best wires for lt1 w/hooker LTs and what igniton box

Hey guys,

I ordered some Hooker Lts and am wondering what are the best igniton wires to use with the headers (they are coated). I've used taylor in the past with my eddys, and the boots burned (those were uncoated). I found stock replacments worked best at that time.

I would consider wires that loom over the valvecovers, but would like to buy some aftermarket valvecovers (any recomendations) that clear the non sa RR w/o having to gut the valve cover bridges. I did that in the past with stock valvecovers, and found that wire loom holder was hard to 'snug' properly w/gutted valvecovers w/o support.

What is a good igniton box to run if I have nitrous in mind. I already have a harlan window switch.

Thanks guys,

Igor.

If you want to do the OTVC setup, you can order the valve cover looms from Thunder Racing and order a universal wire set from Taylor or MSD to cut your wires. As for the ignition box, MSD and Mallory are the two popular ones. If you have nitrous in mind, the Mallory box is nice because it has both a timing retard and a window switch built in. Seeing that you already have the window switch though, its your call.

No, I don't really want to go over the valve cover if I dont' have to. If I don't, any good pre-made sets. I've made a few over the years, and never had too great a luck with them. Inc. Taylor

That's a nice setup. Taylor boots clear the primary tubes on the LTs ok? They didn't on the eddys.

Thanks.

I got away with stock routing Taylor wires and Hooker LT's for over 3 years.

I *just* switched to OTVC wires when I did heads/cam

I have been using MSD wires ran the factory route with no problems. I rigged up some of my own looms to make sure they wouldn't go anywhere.

I have Elite and they work beautiful. Arcing problems can be caused by many other issues than the wires. I would only run OTVC wires when headers are installed. Its the only way to prevent melting a wire. I've heard many comments regarding wires....but I seldom say that one wire "sucks" over the other. Somehow, that fails to give the technical advice that is needed.

I really like my 10.4 taylor thunder volts...they were pricey, but i didnt want to go with ovtc. They have heat resistant boots and they haven't burned yet...i sure hope they nvr do at 110 bucks.

it says right on the website you can buy Taylor 8mm OTVC wires PRECUT from them. idk about their own brand of wires but the fact that they pre cut the taylors is pretty cool, saves some time/hassle.
