best street performance mods?
Hey guys I have a '94 Z, it's an A4. I have 3.23 gears and a hooker cat-back. Other than that the car is stock. I love the performance, my car only has 55K miles and it runs awesome. I was just wondering what mods to do to make it more fun and aggressive on the street. I'm not really going to have it at the track but I just want to be able to hand some ricers a good ***-woopin. Would a 2800 stall and like 3.73's be my best bet? Or do I go headers? Just looking for some ideas. Thanks alot guys, as always, this site and its contributors are the best!
go ahead and get a 3200 stall it is very streetable and you will love it
my dad has a 2800 viligante and we wish we would have got a 3200 for it
BTW it is worth the money to get the viligante, you get 1 free upgrade and it will hold 1200 hp

You won't get any horsepower from a converter, but it will take .3-.5 off your e.t. (it's kind of like gaining 40-50 horsepower without actually gaining any). A higher stall converter uses the stronger part of your H.P. curve more efficiently than the stock.
I have a Yank SY 3500 waiting to go in.
It ran 850, Vigilantes are 750 plus a free re-stall.
I would look at headers first, just my opinion though.

i didnt realize they were that much
As mentioned a torque converter upgrade would be a good way to go. This is one of the best bolt on mods that you can do to an automatic car. You will see about 3-5 tenths from this, about 20-25hp (2-2.5 tenths) from long tube headers, 10hp from 1.6 rockers and about 10-12hp from a high flow induction like the K+N FIPK. 3.73s would also be a nice upgrade and show you about 2 tenths at the track and make the car more responsive during normal driving. Going into the bigger mods like a cam or heads are worth much more horsepower but the installation is alot more involved.

The converter will effect your gas mileage. How much depends on your driving. Friend of mine went from stock to a 2800 and his mpg dropped about 2 mpg under normal driving. If it were me I'd do subframe connectors, and strut tower brace, they'll tighten the car up nicely so you'll handle better and develope less creaks and moans as the car ages. Then I'd do a CAI, msd ignition, complete exhaust, headers, y pipe, 3 inch cat back, perhaps a bigger TB or MAF ( think your car is Mass Air, I htink 94 was the year they switched).

I'm not saying don't go past a 2800 thats just what my friend put in, but the looser the converter the worse your mileage, but the quicker you'll be. So it's just really preference if mileage is any sort of a priority I wouldn't do gears or a converter on an A4 car, but if it's a weekend toy or you don't care about mileage too much put in some 3.73's a 3000 or so converter and let 'er rip...

is there a kit for the gears so i can upgrade them, and how much would they cost, and is it easy to change them, because if i do get the converter im going to get bigger gears
