Best long headers for lowered car

Hi guys, I have Eibach Sport-Line Springs (1.8" Drop Front & 1.5" Drop Rear).. My old headers was Hooker LT with Mufflex Y-Pipe.. There was an incredible power gain, but lots of pain I couldn't drive everywhere, and I hit them all the time.
I sold them and get SLP shorties with stock Y-pipe.. Now ground clearance is perfect, but I want "Long Tube" with my new 383cid.. Money is not a problem. The problem is ground clearance.. I want the best ground clerance headers.. In this case what is the "best" headers? By the way my exhaust is Borla cat-back..

Re: Best headers for lowered car

I'll have to agree about the Mufflex Y, its not the best, or better put probably the worse for ground clearance. I have seen some cars with TPIS LT's and they are pretty tight up there. Even Hookers/Jethot with a Hooker Y or Jethot Y are much much better than the Mufflex. I have thought many times about trading someone for a Hooker one so I can drive over bumps.

The AS&M is going to fit probably the best and wont sacrifice to much over the LT's. But I suggest getting RK's since they are the some thing for about $300 less.

Re: Best headers for lowered car

Well i have heard that KOOK's tuck up the best but they better for the price. I have pacesetters and their y-pipe and they have good clearance but my car is not lowered. But for your lowered application pacesetter's or any other slipe-fit design would be the best because the flange is usually what sits down the lowest and scrapes.

The Pacesetters are definitely a great header for the price. But as pointed out above, the slip-fit design is very beneficial as the flange will only hurt ground clearance, especially on a lowered car that has little to give already. Another alternative would be to maybe consider a mid-length design.

I'd look into something like AS&M's, Mac's, or Rksports. There all considered Mid-length headers and they all provide good gains.

Re: Best headers for lowered car

just make sure if youre going with a mid length header that you get one with fat primaries and a 3" y-pipe.

Re: Best headers for lowered car

i have eibach pro kit springs, hooker lts and a mufflex y pipe and the only thing that ever scrapes is the y pipe. get a custom made one and they could tuck it up so you will have hardly any issues at all. obviously i have to take it easy over speed bumps and certain driveways, but for the most part its fine.

Re: Best headers for lowered car

He already has SLP mid lengths so switching to any other mid like the RK or AS&M is pointless.

Re: Best headers for lowered car

thanks a lot for the replies! Every post is important to me! Yeah I currently have SLP headers, and with my new setup (383cid and big cam) long tubes will make a big difference. Kooks are top notch quality, but I heard Pacesetters have a great ground clearance. This will be my 3. headers, so this time I want to do it right.

Anybody want to comment on the RK sport headers. Definitely seems like the best bang for the buck.

Ya can make a y pipe using the flattened tubing for more clearance.
