mods in sig, rebuilding the engine soon and looking for a new bumpstick. will be buying longtubes. daily driver, i don't want to rev it to 6400 in town to have fun. have read that cc306 is a good cam but i think it may be excessive for

daily driver and stock stall.

been looking at
cc306 (thinking its too much for stock stall)
cc305
846
hotcam
custom grind
stevo mentioned a XE CAM (elaborate plz)

i have searched the boards with not much luck so don't cruicify me

thanks in advance

A stock cam benifits from stall, doing a cam without one will leave you disapponted at least at low speeds. I did a cam much smaller than the HOT and I didn't see much benefit from it till I gave it some stall.

XE is refering to a one of the lines of Comp lobes

If you are set on going this route my opinion is go "small" crane 227 which is 210/224, the GM 845, maybe the XE 212/224.

I'm going to be temporarly using a cam along the lines of a GM846 with a stock stall in the future. Untill I get the money for a Vig2800 or something along the lines of that. I hear that it isn't that bad driveability wise, the TC just helps it get into the higher rpms quicker.

That's some useful info right there.

If I were you I'd contact Bret Bauer (SStrokerAce). I'm sure he can make you a custom grind to fit your needs.

Just because the price of a cam is cheaper than that of a TC...you may still need springs and don't forget the price of installation.

A good 9.5" also allows more power to make to to the wheels due to less mass to accelerate.

I have the Comp Cams XE 502 with the stock stall and it runs good. From what I have looked at this is as big as you want to go with the stock stall though. I have plenty of power only spinning it to 6,000. If you are going to swap the cam you need to replace the springs, retainers, locks, and some other valvetrain parts. Your stock springs with 188,000 miles on them will not last long.

Get a torque convertor first. I did a heads and cam(dif than in sig) awhile back and didn't notice much diff with the stock stall...i then bought a 3600 vig stall and it was awsome. For a daily driver a 2800 stall would feel just about like stock untill you mashed the throttle. I can drive the car the way it is right now with a big cam and big stall just fine....no i wouldn't want to do it every day and the gas mileage sucks, but a 2800 stall would net a good sotp improvement and help out when you do a cam down the road.

Btw a good tc will cost 700 bucks or so and i would bet you will spend alot more than that doing a cam unless you go with the hotcam kit.

how does this cam compare to the cc305?

me and a friend are replacing the whole bottom end besides the stock crank. so i'm not throwing it in a car with 188,000 miles

i would do a tc if i had another car to drive daily, but i'm afraid its going to hurt drivability, fuel econ, and on top of that i don't want to spend 700 on it right now!!!

Why do people think stalls hurt driveability?

My Vigi 3200 stall still climbs up uphill driveways without any input from me under its own power.

won't effect fuel economy any appreciable amount, due the the TCC

and a good cam costs 700 or more to do it right as well(cam$250+, lifters(if needed)$150+, springs/keeprs/locks/head work $250+, ect.)
