Best cam for 383?

I'm helping a friend decide on parts for his 383.

This is going to be a mostly track car with some street duty.

Right now he has stock ported LT1 heads but might go with AFRs later if need be.

What would be a good cam profile to go with?

Emissions is not an issue.

Here's what he has so far:

3200 stall

Jet Hot Long Tubes

3.73 gears

36# injectors

383 rotating assembly.

If you want an off-the-shelf cam, then look at stuff with big lift and healty duration. GM 847 comes to mind...
But since it is going to be mostly a track-car you say, I would get the heads flowed and get a custom cam. So you might want to wait on the cam till you guys get the AFR heads. Unless he doesn't mind spending the money on a cam twice. Good luck.

Another vote for custom cam. I've heard a lot of good things about Joe Overton's cams. Might want to contact him for an opinion....
