Is this a bad opti??

I've been getting codes intermittently and its been difficult to track this down. While I'm in traffic, the car will start to run rough and then stall out. It wont start back up quickly, and the cooling fan goes on for a few seconds. I have to wait for it to go off and then it starts up. Also, in the morning, the car takes a few extra seconds to start, and after it has warmed up, it will start no problem.

I've seen some things on the net about these codes possibly being the opti that is bad. Please take a look and let me know what you think.

Codes:

P0100 MAF Frequency Insufficient Variation
P0101 Mass Air Flow System Performance
P0102 Mass Air Flow Sensor Circuit Low Frequency
P0103 Mass Air Flow Circuit High Frequency
P0300 Engine Misfire Detected
P0332 Knock Sensor Circuit Low Voltage Bank 2
P1351 IC Circuit High Voltage
P1361 IC Circuit Low Voltage

P0100 MAF Frequency Insufficient Variation
P0101 Mass Air Flow System Performance
P0102 Mass Air Flow Sensor Circuit Low Frequency
P0103 Mass Air Flow Circuit High Frequency
P0300 Engine Misfire Detected
P1351 IC Circuit High Voltage
P1361 IC Circuit Low Voltage
P0300 Engine Misfire Detected

These are the two sets of codes I pulled, as this happened twice in one day. I've already replaced the IC Module, so its not that. Looks to me that the MAF is triggering this domino effect. Anyone else have these problems when their opti's go?? Please help, I keep getting stuck in traffic with a stalled out car.

if you have a bad opti you would definitly know it.

It seems like you have a fouled plug and possible damage to the MAF or MAF connector.

A bad MAF would be intermittent like this?? I have a K&N filter and i've read that if you put too much oil on it, it can end up damaging the MAF. Any truth there?

not damage permanetly, but it can contaminate the MAF wires, and they will need cleaning

The 97's seem to be susceptible to a problem with the pink wire that supplies +12V to the MAF sensor. Might want to check the pink wire, key on, engine off to see if you are getting a steady +12V on the wire. Jiggle the connector and the harness a bit.

Multiple codes can sometimes be traced to bad engine or PCM grounds. The presence of the MAF codes for both low and high frequency simulaneoulsy, and the codes for both high and low ICModule voltage simultaneously may be pointing to some external cause, other than the MAF sensor and ICModule. Check the engine ground at the drivers head. Interesting that the knock sensor voltage code is also intermittent, only showing up in one instance.

I checked the pink wire and it has 12v constant, even moving the connector around. The ground you are referring to, I think thats the one coming from the harness that has the ICModule wires and the MAF Wires. Checked it with car running and moving around where it connects to chassis. All seems fine.

The ground wire that mounts on the coil has been broke on two of my LT1's. Take the bolt off the coil mount and check it good.
