Question auto to six-speed

Switch my automatic for a six speed?

I bought my 96' Trans Am about a year ago and I love it except for the automatic. I drove a six-speed 98' Z28 the other day an fell in love with the way it felt when I was grabbing gears! How hard would it be to make the mod and about how much would the project cost.

it would cost about 3 grand including all parts, cables, wires, hoses, pedals, and the tranny(if rebuilt). just take all parts from the donor car when you pull the tranny, you will also need a new consol and cpu unit. im getting my pcm from madwolf when i do my conversion.

You may even need a taller gear in the rear end to make use of the 6 speeds gearing.

Here's a useful link:

and I got everything needed for conversion from junkyard for $1500+shipping. In addition to that, you probably want to get fresh clutch and I strongly reccommend aftermarket shifter. I got B&M Ripper, but there are many good choices.

Regards the gears, get 3.73 or 4.10. With stock 2.73 or 3.23(which I had previously) 6-th will be not useable in real life.
