Re: Auto or 6 spd?

I guess that a manual car might be fun for a weekend cruise.
but, as far as drag racing, I prefer an auto with a big stall, and soon gears..
Autos are more consistent, compared to the manuals that put more stress on the back of the rear end, and will have a larger risk of breaking down during launches.
so, as for my opinion, I prefer AUTOS...

Re: Auto or 6 spd?

It was a toss up for me....I was very close to doing a t56 conversion but decided to spend the money on stall, shift kit, converter, gears. Now, when I want to row throught the gears I just trade for the day with my friend who has a modded '01 6spd.

Soon, very soon, my sig will list a c5 6spd!!

Most drivers do not know how to shift a manual to be competitive, thats why you see auto's faster at the track. Go to the track and look at the serious racers, most have auto's simpy because they are more consistent. You will see some manuals because these are the few that CAN shift, but like someone said, when you get into the single digits, they all go auto or something like a linko.
For the street, the only way to go is manual. Every one will agree, they are such a blast to drive.
