anyone using the pac 1218's?

I was about to order a set of the comp 918's last week, obviously I'm not going that route anymore!! Are the PAC 1218's a good choice to go with on a cc306. And can I use the 795-16 retainers, 611-16 locks and 4705-16 locators that would've worked on the 918's? I need something that I can drop in there and go, after setting install height properly of course.

another thing, I dont have the money in my budget for rockers now so I'll be on stamped stockers for a least a few months. Has anyone had a problem with clearance between the stock rockers and smaller retainers. Thanks for any help, I just dont wanna spend all that cash and have some surprises pop up.

What till you have enough dough and get the proper rockers.

^^^Yeah or at least try to find a set of used ones. I found my Pro mags with all the locks, 7/16" studs, and guide plates here for like $225 shipped for everything

Just a thought

well, will the self aligning pro mags work with that spring and retainer setup?

Also the the locks are the 614-16, not 611-16. they are 10 degree +.050.

You can't use S/A rockers with beehives and +.050 locks.

I just got my set of PAC 1218's in. Haven't installed them yet but will in about 3 months since I'm not in the US right now. I have the comp Pro Mag rockers that are not S/A. Lloyd said to set those springs up at 1.750" installed height with that cam. I'll probably have to use some shims to get mine set up as I have the CC986 springs set up at 1.800" installed height right now.

The +.050 locks moves the locks and retainers up .050", which in turn means that the springs are closer to the top of the valve stem. There isn't enough room between the spring retainer and locks and the top of the valve stem to clear the S/A tabs on the rockers.

and besides all the technical jargon speed deomon said, an NSA setup would be more ideal for that type of cam.

I use PAC 1218's and they go on every set of LE2+ heads Lloyd does. They are the original beehives and are the best quality out there.

I got them on my LE2's.
No problems after 500 miles, the Comps did not make it 20 miles before busting the top coil on three springs.

Exactly, if springs are going to break they do it VERY quicky not after a lot of miles.
