Anyone run the lt1 to lt4 conversion?!
I am interested in going the easy route to 425+ hp by getting the lt1 to lt4 conversion setup. Anyone on here run this and know if its worth the $2300?! I figure if I am going to pay LLOYD ELLIOT $1300 for a 390hp setup I should upgrade to aluminum heads and get a new intake too for the extra grand. I bet it would be SUPER streetable too since its just a corvette engine now right?! What other mods are suggested, do these heads need ported??? I like how they are assembled already , all you do is swap the parts and get a tune right? Thanks--

Re: Anyone run the lt1 to lt4 conversion?!
stock lt1 heads are already aluminum on f-bodies....
i know a guy running the lt4 package. he likes it, but i've seen messaged stock lt1 heads outflow the stock lt4's. i don't think it's worth it to me. the le2 will be a much stronger cam than the hotcam. i'm not sure about the le1. the hotcam is a nice cam, but something you might get bored of over time. i'd say to go with an le2. it will still be very streetable. personally, i wouldn't go lt4 until i was making 420+ rwhp. u can pick up a good ported lt1 intake on the for sale boards for 100-150. overall, i'd stay lt1 and go le2. or bret bauer made me cam for stock heads that should make 370rwhp on 11.2:1. there's manby options. just sit back and think of what you want |
Re: Anyone run the lt1 to lt4 conversion?!
The LT4 conversion figures are crank hp. Youd be lucky to see 350 rear wheel hp out of that setup and Lloyds numbers are rear wheel.

Re: Anyone run the lt1 to lt4 conversion?!
Oh geez, well blow that idea out of the water for the $1k , lol. Thanks Black and Turbo. Now I just need to email LLOYD and see if he does a core/swap sorta thing. I would love to not have to wait for him to port my heads. I am confused at the aluminum / cast thing though. I thought the aluminum heads were only in the ls1 motors and the CORVETTE lt1's?! Will my 96' have aluminum heads for SURE!? I will give her a better look today----

Re: Anyone run the lt1 to lt4 conversion?!
F-body's and Vettes had aluminum heads. I think the B-body and others had regular Iron heads.
Yea, as it was already said Lloyd numbers are rear wheel. I have personally experienced his LE2 package and its pretty sweet. My buddy with one runs great at the track and will soon see low 12's high 11's with drag radials. He has raced a C6 Vette, Mid 12's Lightning, Mid 12 LS1, and Low 12's LT1 from rolls a beat them all. I'll be dumping money to LLoyd someday. Do a search on lloyd elliot and you'll find all his package info and contact numbers. Great guy to talk to on the phone, hell talk to you all day if you need him to. -Dustin- |
Re: Anyone run the lt1 to lt4 conversion?!
Im going with an LT4 set up... should be making 450rwhp on motor alone.....

Re: Anyone run the lt1 to lt4 conversion?!
But something tells me this isnt a LT4 conversion like what they sell at Summit. And I also think you paid a bit more than $2300 too. But Ported LT4 setups make lovely power :D

Re: Anyone run the lt1 to lt4 conversion?!

Re: Anyone run the lt1 to lt4 conversion?!
Maybe I was thinking the ls1's and vettes had aluminum BLOCKS and we have the cast ones, right?! I think LLOYD is going to be getting my business too, so I can do it right the first time. Is the le2 package streetable for my DAILY DRIVER? Since you have first hand experience in one please share your opinion, if not is the le1 the better choice?! Does he do core/swap on the heads?! Thanks brotha---

Re: Anyone run the lt1 to lt4 conversion?!
yeah.... the ls1's are aluminum... hey, i dont think streetability will be a problem... mine is my daily driver, and ive pushed the LT4 to the limits, and still should maintain daily driver capability..

Re: Anyone run the lt1 to lt4 conversion?!
hey, i thought about getting an LT4 Conv. but then my friend bought one and he said it only gave him around 380 hp!, plus thats with a 52mm TB, i thought about making my own conversion, just have your stock LT1 heads ported and port the LT1 Intake so you can get a bigger TB, then IMO call CC and get a Custom Grind done...if you do wanna go with the LT4 Conv. i know a site where it is only $2090, www.gmpartsdirect.com

Re: Anyone run the lt1 to lt4 conversion?!
I have my stock Aluminum LT1 heads fully ported and intake also, and its a night and day diffrence. But I now want to up the power more. I have a LT4 hotcam with the ported heads and intake, but I was wondering if the LE3 package would be great to just slap on a stock short block to make tons of power also?????
edit: Does anyone have the website for the LE1,2,3 packages??? |
Re: Anyone run the lt1 to lt4 conversion?!
try and stay away from custom cams... they arent proven performance... they are based on mathmatical statistics... and we all know that engines have a mind of their own... look around, talk to people, find a mass produced cam that has been successful for many people... try the 305 or 306 from comp

Re: Anyone run the lt1 to lt4 conversion?!
what people need to realize is power takes money... if your on a $2000 budget, dont expect to see near 400rwhp without nitrous... you can only push a motor so far with out spending a lot.
